Note	Obituary Fort Ashby, WV- Arthur Lane Siple, 93, of Fort Ashby, died Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Allegany Health, Nursing and Rehab Center. Born August 12, 1926 in Alaska, WV, he was the son of the late Preston Todd “P.T.” Siple and Edna Florence (Carder) Siple. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Iris Louise Siple, age 2 years, and Sarah Kathryn (Siple) Gortner and husband, John; and, one brother, Frederick Carder Siple. Mr. Siple attended Fort Ashby High School and Potomac State College. He was a decorated WWII and Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army 1944-1946 and the U.S. Navy Seabees 1950-1952. After his discharge from the service, Arthur was a conductor on the B & O Railroad until his retirement in 1989. Arthur then took up jousting and enjoyed the sport with his horse, Chico, for many years. Mr. Siple belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church; Fort Ashby Post #6667, V.F.W.; and was a life member of the N.R.A. Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years, Eileen (Isner) Siple; three children, Preston L. Siple and wife Un Suk (Chong) Siple, Salado, TX, Teresa Eileen Siple, Sioux Falls, SD, and Sidney L. Siple and wife Cynthia (Harvey) Siple, Montpelier, VA; grandchildren, Madison Todd Siple and Karen Elizabeth Siple; and, nieces, Patricia (Gortner) Marseglia and husband Paul, Arlington, VA, and Suzanne (Gortner) Daubner and husband Carl, Glen Dale, VA. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Ashby, on Tuesday, January 7th. from 1-3 PM. A celebration of Arthur’s life will follow at 3 PM, with Rev. Scott Ingleton, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Ashby VFW Post #6667, P.O.
